How it works?
Vet, Home or Crematory Pickup
A service representative will bring your pet into our care from your vet, home or by appointment at our crematory. The cremains can be picked up at our location or returned to your vet or home.
Tracking
Every pet is assigned a one-time use QR Code which accompanies and tracks your pet in real-time through the entire cremation process, ensuring 100% accuracy.

We offer three levels of cremation to meet the needs of every family’s budget.
Returned Package
Your beloved pet’s cremains will be returned in a memory container or you can select a personalized urn or keepsake. The package will also include a celebration video and any additional memory options selected.
Private Cremation
Your pet will be the only pet present in the crematory ensuring 100% accuracy. Your pet’s unique tracking barcode accompanies them throughout the entire cremation process ensuring that you receive your pet’s cremains.
The Private Cremation Memorial Package includes:
- The choice of a Cherry Urn or Blooming Bio Urn to hold your pet’s cremains
- Ink Stamp Nose Print
- Ink Stamp Paw Print
- Fur/Feather/Scale
- A Cremation Certificate.
Please note that when a pet has a necropsy ink prints, impressions, and fur/feather/scale will not be included in your pet’s memorial package.

Semi-Private Cremation (Individual Cremation)
Your pet will be cremated in a partitioned area that is separate from other pets inside the crematory. Your pet’s unique tracking barcode accompanies them throughout the entire cremation process, ensuring that you receive the cremated remains of your pet when the cremation is complete.
The Semi-Private Memorial Package includes:
- A basic container to hold your pet’s cremains
- Fur/Feather/Scale
- A Cremation Certificate
Please note that when a pet has a necropsy ink prints, impressions, and fur/feather/scale will not be included in your pet’s memorial package.

Communal Cremation
Your pet will be cremated alongside other pets and there will be no return of cremains.

How will we bring your pet into our care?
Crematory: Contact us to set a time to bring your pet to our crematory.
Vet: There is no transportation fee to bring a pet into our care from a vet in Athens-Clarke County, Oconee County, Madsion County, or Oglethorpe County.
Home: The transportation fee to bring a pet into our care from your home in a 20 miles driving distance is $125; For 20 to 40 miles distance there is an additional $100 fee.
If you would like our staff to bring your pet into our care from outside of our service area, please contact us about pricing and availability.
How can I be sure the cremains I receive are my pets?
Every pet is assigned a one-time use QR Code which accompanies and tracks your pet in real-time through the entire cremation process, ensuring 100% accuracy.
Am I able to witness the start of my pet’s cremation?
Witnessing the start of your pet’s Private Cremation during business hours is offered by appointment for $100 in addition to the Private Cremation cost. Witnessing the start of your pet’s Private Cremation outside of normal business hours is offered by appointment for $175 in addition to the Private Cremation cost and After Hour fee.
What options do you offer to help me honor the memory of my beloved pet?
A complimentary Celebration of Life video is available in the pet parent portal to create and share with family and friends. A catalog to browse and shop for urns, keepsakes, jewelry, ornaments, and more is also available in the pet parent portal. Our staff can work with you to help you personalize an urn or find a pendant to keep your beloved pet close to your heart.
When will my pet’s memorial package be ready?
Your pet’s memorial package will be ready within 7 business days from the time we bring your pet into our care. Your pet’s memorial package can be picked up during normal business hours upon presenting a Driver’s License or ID. Or our staff can return your pet’s memorial package to your primary vet clinic in Athens-Clarke County, Oconee County, Madison County, or Oglethorpe County. If you would like your pet’s memorial package shipped to you by USPS Priority Mail Express, the cost is $50.

If you need our services outside of business hours, please call for availability.
An After Hour Fee will be applied outside of normal business hours and on the following holidays:
New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the day after Christmas.
University of Georgia
Veterinary Teaching Hospital
Our staff are often available to assist from sunrise to sunset. However, if availability is limited or you need immediate assistance, take comfort in knowing the University of Georgia Veterinary Teaching Hospital- Small Animal Emergency is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and will hold your pet until our next business day.
Note: UGA may charge a holding fee, usually between $25.00 and $100.00 based on your pet’s weight. Please let the UGA staff know you have chosen Athens Pet Cremation to care for your pet and our staff will contact you during normal business hours to help you honor the memory of your beloved pet.
